 Alice In Chains

There were various artists and bands to explore during the 90s, when Grunge peaked. Mostly, it was bands that really brought up the authenticity to grunge because instrumentals and vocals were all meant to be raw and recorded live without any digital sound. The bands would have a lead vocalist, often was the songwriter too. The Band I ended up choosing is Alice in Chains.

Alice in Chains, an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1987. Their lead vocalist was Layne Staley, who is a seen as a grunge rock icon along with names like Kurt Cobain and Chris Cornell. He was admired for his soulful and unique vocal delivery of lyrics equally deep and heartwarming or heart wrenching. He is often associated with his drug addiction due to which his life tragically ended in 2002 at the age of 34. Alice in Chains still plays without him but the legacy will always be connected to him.

Staley was an interesting choice considering his unique vocal style and way of expression, and an overall influence on much of the rock musicians that came later. Their music videos fit the grunge standard but gives me a chance to explore it more visually. Hope I do it justice!
