PRIOR WORK
I've been interested in making short videos and clips long before I even considered taking media as a subject. Apparently I have a lot of content, but will definitely share my favorite ones :)
Here are some short projects I put together throughout the years...
A montage of the beauty of being on the road at night, inspired by the unique visual style of Chinese director Wong Kar-Wai, especially from his film Fallen Angels. The saturated colors and the ambience of the road really bring the city to life.
A little story shot at my school where mysterious cut zooms reveal a trash can, almost like introducing a character into the narrative, and my character being the trash can.
An experiment with lights and horror. I shot this at my uncles new house and played with the lights while recording. Later I added a creepy feel to it, with the buzzing of the lights and the jump-scare at the end! (which is my face edited to look frightening)
I left my phone hidden in a plant pot after sprinkling bread for the birds to eat, and what I captured was really interesting.
A short video of what it was like to study for my exams, trying to catch that feeling of unease and boredom using relevant music and visual style.
A little lyric video made around footage of a candle flame to Lana Del Rey's Yosemite, where the lyrics mention "candle in the wind"
A play with colors with this video I shot in the car where the lights were hitting very interestingly. The saturated changing colors and effects add a really dreamy effect
These are just a few of the short videos I frequently make, testing out new things and experimenting with visuals and sound etc. It's proven to be good exercise, helping me gain better knowledge and understanding about filming and editing, and to prepare me for more serious projects in the future. Practice is all it takes :)
